comforting lasagna

i made this recipe at our family reunion. everyone loved it and was asking for the recipe! it is creamy, hearty, and filling. it is made with both italian sausage and ground beef to give it great flavor. and to top it off, it was super easy! give it a try, your family will love this meal, and you will never have to look for a better lasagna recipe!

Lasagna
8 oz. package of lasagna noodles (i use the 'no boil' noodles. it saves a lot of time)
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb italian sausage (you will find these in the meat section of the store. they are in links and look like a braut. peel the thin casings off the link before browning the meat)
1/4 C. chopped onions
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic salt
2-26oz jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce
32 oz ricotta- mixed with 1 egg & 1/4 cup of powdered parmesan cheese.

saute until meat is brown-
meat onions, salt, garlic salt.

drain fat.

add sauce to meat and bring to boil.

reduce heat, simmer for 15 to 20 min.

layer in a 9x13 casserole dish-
sauce on the bottom.
noodles, meat sauce, ricotta - repeat till dish is full.
top with mozzarella.

bake covered at 375 degrees for 40 min. take foil off and bake another 20 min or until bubbly and cheese is starting to brown.

you could serve it with french bread and Olive Garden Salad.
ENJOY!

lasagna is one of my all time fave comfort food. What a great site you have here. I came here from victoria pitkin's blog and I'd also love to extend the request if I may guide foodista readers to your site, if you won't mind.Just add your choice of foodista widget to this blog post and it's ready to go. Thanks!
